Several years ago I needed to get a laptop under $500 as I was a college student strapped for cash. I had heard there were good deals online if you could find them so I went surfing the web. The difference between shopping online and shopping at a store like Best Buy or Radio Shack is that you literally have the whole world’s retail market place at your finger tips and that’s power for the consumer.

Ebay was still a young growing website back then and was kind of hard to navigate – and still is unfortunately. Now there are speciality sub-sites that break down various markets within ebay’s vast market place. For example, LaptopBudget.com takes ebay’s vast amount of computers for sale and consolidates them into an easier to navigate, more consumer friendly mini-website. The interesting thing is, all of the listings on LaptopBudget.com are live listings linked directly to the source so it only takes one click for the user who is, looking for laptops under $500 for example, to land directly on the product pages on ebay displaying only those laptops under $500 that the consumer is searching for rather than all the used laptops on ebay. The user can even break the search down further by selecting brands like Dell, size, new/used, etc., etc.
